H I S T O R Y

Originally of Portugal, Europe, Europa was born second to last into a family of seven. The Terrene were a family of funds, and already at age 5, Europa was sent away to boarding school. She never knew much of her parents save the occasional birthday card she was sent or celebrating Christmas at home, but Europa never let it get to her. Growing up at a boarding school in the south of France, the fact that you didn't know your parents was pretty much the norm, and with her siblings at the same school, Europa didn't feel like she missed the comfort of a parent.

Europa grew up into an independant young woman, and became very interested in environmental issues. Through her own efforts and her family's connections, she didn't have any problems getting an internship at the International Court of Justice in Hague, the Netherlands, and spent two years there from she was 18 until a little after her 20th birthday, when, after some legal issues and her general growing resentment of the man she was studying under, Europa left the city and went back to Lisbon.

Back in the city where she had been born, but had never lived or ever felt truly comfortable, Europa grew restless. She felt there was nothing there she could do there for the things that she had a passion for, and rejecting any help her parents offered her, she left the capital to travel around the country.

But it never did help. Whenever she came to someplace new, she would only feel that it was not the place that was right for her, and she moved on. Perhaps she had always been a drifter, but Europa never stayed in the same place for more than a few weeks, a month at the most, and eventually, she traveled outside Portugal, trying to put as much space between her and her old routines as possible.

That was how she came to Rio de Janeiro, roughly a year ago. Upon entering the city limits, her till then latent powers sparked to life and Europa managed to almost burn down the first hotel she checked into. More than a little freaked out, she went back to Portugal and spent the next three months digging through her family's archives for anything that might explain why she had these new abilities. Finding the Terrene had a long line of elemental mishaps in the past, Europa learned that not only she, but also the rest of her siblings had the underlying potential for powers such as hers.

Disgusted with her parents for never telling any of them about it, and falling into the knowledge of the end of the world, Europa has spent the last nine months slowly coming into the belief that with everything she has seen traveling, and at the Hague, humanity might be better off dead.

Recently gone back to Rio, Europa has watched the battle unfold without an inclination to participate.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Once an amiable and thoughtful girl, Europa has since her boarding school years grown into a cynical and heavily guarded woman. She is sarcastic when she can, and more deadpan than not. Not quick to laugh, her smiles show little humour or even friendliness, although she might still be as amused as the next person. The thing is, she is more reminded that with everything the world has made up over the last thousand years, one person's wittiness doesn't even make a ripple.

Europa is of the belief that there is no redeeming from everything done to Earth, and a quick fix, deciding everything in a year, would be better than waiting around for endless discussions and treaties. She saw too much of that at the Hague, and things that never got settled because human nature is to get the most out of a situation, and not to reach compromise. So she sees no reason to compromise.

A P P E A R A N C E

Slim of build, Europa is pretty in the wild kind of sense, with vivid red hair and dark green eyes. She catches looks, but doesn't make much of them, and seems unapproachable. People not fond of challenges do not approach her willingly, although if they should, she wouldn't brush them off at first glance.

She is not particulary tall at 5'7", but with her long limbs, she seems much taller than she really is, at a distance.
